Case Filed Against BJP MLA Geetaba Jadeja’s Son For Assaulting NSUI Leader

A case of attempted murder was filed against Gujarat BJP MLA Geetaba Jadeja’s son, Ganesh Jadeja, and others on Friday for allegedly kidnapping and assaulting a local NSUI leader, according to the police.

The complainant, Sanjay Solanki, is the city unit chief of the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), a Congress-affiliated organization and a Dalit. Therefore, the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act was also invoked.

Inspector V J Savaj of the Junagadh A Division police station said, “The incident happened early Friday morning. We have registered an FIR against Ganesh Jadeja and his associates. No arrests have been made yet,”

The Junagadh police have formed special teams, including the Local Crime Branch (LCB) and the Special Operations Group (SOG), to apprehend the accused.

According to the First Information Report, 26-year-old Sanjay Solanki asked Ganesh Jadeja to drive carefully on Thursday night after Jadeja’s car passed too close to Solanki’s two-wheeler in the Kalva Chowk area.

Angered by this, Jadeja and his associates followed Solanki to his home on Datar Road but left after Solanki’s father, who knew Jadeja, intervened.

Early the next morning, Solanki went out on his two-wheeler when a car with Ganesh Jadeja’s men allegedly rammed it from behind around 3:00 am. When Solanki fell, five men got out, allegedly beat him with sticks, and put him in the car.

They took him to Jadeja’s residence in Gondal, where Ganesh and others brutally beat him and demanded that he quit the NSUI, according to the complainant.

In the morning, the FIR stated that the accused dropped Solanki at Bhesan crossroads.

This incident has caused a stir in the local community, with many calling for swift and decisive action against those responsible. Political tensions have heightened, with the NSUI and other opposition groups condemning the attack and demanding accountability.

Geetaba Jadeja represents the Gondal constituency in Rajkot district.
