For the impending Lok Sabha elections but withheld its release, extending the anticipation surrounding Gandhi family seat allocations. Scheduled for release on Friday, the meeting in Delhi saw Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and former chief Sonia Gandhi in attendance. Rahul Gandhi, leading the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Jaipur, was expected to join virtually but didn’t.
The party’s screening committee in Kerala proposed Rahul Gandhi’s candidacy for the Wayanad seat, which he currently holds, likely positioning him for re-election. However, his return to Amethi remains uncertain. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s potential political debut remains speculative despite fervent Congress worker support for her candidacy in Raebareli.

Expected contenders in the debut list include Shashi Tharoor from Thiruvananthapuram and Bhupesh Baghel in Chhattisgarh. In Karnataka, seat allocation is pending, with Gulbarga’s stronghold status unaddressed. In Delhi, the Congress unit proposed a lengthy list of candidates for consideration, including JP Agrawal and Sandeep Dikshit for Chandni Chowk, Arvinder Singh Lovely for Northeast Delhi, and Rajkumar Chauhan for Northwest Delhi.
The high command instructed the Delhi unit to condense the list before final approval, exemplifying the meticulous candidate selection process.
