“Cook Fish For Bengali’s?” Paresh Raval Clarifies His Controversial Remark Drawn Out From His Gujarat Speech

“Gujarat people can tolerate inflation but not Bangladeshis and Rohingyas,” States Paresh Rawal in his Gujarat Speech

While campaigning for BJP in Gujarat, actor Paresh Rawal finds himself in a controversial dilemma over his speech remark: “Cook fish for the Bengalis?”

Paresh Rawal in a rally was talking about Bangladeshis and Rohingyas, where he stated; “Gas cylinders are expensive, but their price will come down. People will get employment too. But what will happen if Rohingya migrants and Bangladeshis start living around you, like in Delhi? What will you do with gas cylinders? Cook fish for the Bengalis?”

Additionally, he said “Gujarat people can tolerate inflation but not this … The way they deliver verbal abuses. A person among them needs to wear diapers on his mouth.” The actor has received immense backlash over his remarks on Bengalis and ended up tweeting an apology this morning.

“He would come in a private plane here and then sit in a rickshaw to show off. We have spent a lifetime in acting but even we have not seen such a nautankiwala. And plenty of abuses against Hindus. He had offered Biryani in Shaheen Bagh.” Seemed like the actor intended to draw attention toward Arvind Kejrwal whose Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), rules the capital city.

From calling it “Hate speech” aimed at Bengalis to describing it as “xenophobic dog-whistling”, people lashed out at Paresh Rawal’s remark.

In his tweet this morning the actor mentioned; “Of course the fish is not the issue AS GUJARATIS DO COOK AND EAT FISH. BUT LET ME CLARIFY BY BENGALI I MEANT ILLEGAL BANGLA DESHI N ROHINGYA. BUT STILL IF I HAVE HURT YOUR FEELINGS AND SENTIMENTS I DO APOLOGISE.”
