Delhi: Woman Drugged, Raped By Friends Met On Social Media

According to police on Friday, an 18-year-old woman was allegedly drugged by two men who were her friends on social media and then raped her here.

They were taken into custody on Thursday from Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, based on a complaint filed at the Ambedkar Nagar police station on Wednesday.

According to the police, the woman filed a complaint alleging that on Monday at 1:00 pm, she received a call from the men at a Madangir signalised intersection. She said that she denied their request to sit on their scooter. Police added that she consented to travel with the men after they threatened her with severe consequences, citing her complaint.

They had dinner at Malviya Nagar, where the men took her. The complainant stated that she felt dizzy after eating the food, which was allegedly contaminated with drugs.

The woman’s complaint states that upon regaining consciousness, she discovered she had been the victim of sexual assault. The suspects, who are 19 and 21 years old, have reportedly been detained in accordance with Indian Penal Code sections 376-D (gang rape), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 34 (common intention), according to the police.

Few days ago same incident happened in Mumbai where aĀ 21-year-old lady claims that someone she met on social media drugged and sexually assaulted her. The Mumbai woman posted about the assault on Instagram, calling it the “most traumatic experience of my life.” She stated that even though it has been 12 days since the incident, the perpetrator has not been taken into custody.
