“Difficult To Attend Ram Temple Ceremony”: Rahul Gandhi

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi expressed the party’s difficulty in attending the Ram temple consecration ceremony on January 22, citing the event’s transformation into a “political event” centered around Prime Minister Narendra Modi by the BJP and RSS. During a press conference amid the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, Gandhi emphasized that the BJP and RSS had infused an election flavor into the ceremony, making it challenging for Congress leaders to participate. This announcement followed the Congress top brass declining the invitation to the Ayodhya event.

Gandhi underscored the political nature of the ceremony and stated, “It is difficult for us to attend the Ram temple consecration ceremony when our principal opponents, the BJP and the RSS, have captured the function and turned it into an election event.”

He assured that seat-sharing discussions among INDIA bloc partners were progressing amicably, and he anticipated resolving any minor issues within the alliance. Emphasizing unity, Gandhi stated, “I am confident that small problems within the INDIA bloc will be resolved, and we will together defeat the BJP.”

Regarding the ongoing Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, which commenced on January 14 in Manipur and reached Nagaland on Monday, Gandhi highlighted its extensive route through 100 Lok Sabha constituencies in 15 states, covering a distance of 6,713 km. The Yatra primarily involves travel by bus but also includes some segments on foot. It is scheduled to conclude in Mumbai on March 20 or 21.
