Haryana BJP Chief Mohan Lal Badoli, Singer Rocky Mittal Booked For Gang-rape

The President of the Haryana Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Mohan Lal Badoli, is at the center of a controversy. Along with Badoli, singer Rocky Mittal alias Jai Bhagwan. Jai Bhagwan was also the former BJP special publicity cell director.

The Himachal Pradesh Police has booked Haryana BJP chief Mohan Lal Badoli and singer Rocky Mittal. Both are booked on serious charges of gang rape. The complaint was filed by a New Delhi resident on 13 December.

On December 13 an FIR was registered at Kasauli police station in Solan district. The complainant alleged that the offense was committed on July 3, 2023. The incident occurred at the Ros Common Hotel of the Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC) at Monkey Point Road, Kasauli.

The chilling details of the FIR:

The FIR was registered under Sections 376D (gang rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code. The complainant alleged that she was in Himachal Pradesh as a tourist along with her Delhi-based employer and a female friend on July 3, 2023. She accused the two men of rape and criminal intimidation.

The duo have been booked by the Himachal Pradesh Police on charges of gang rape and criminal intimidation. The complainant claimed that Rocky Mittal aka Jai Bhagwan had promised to feature her as an actress in his album. She also alleged that Mohan Lal Badoli offered her a government job, citing his powerful ‘connections.’

According to the FIR, the two men forced her to consume alcohol. They harassed her and began physically assaulting her. When she objected, they allegedly threatened her friend with dire consequences and made her sit aside.

According to the FIR, The complainant said “Despite our refusal, they forcibly made us consume alcohol. After that, they started harassing me. I objected, after which they threatened (friend) with dire consequences and made her sit on the side. They threatened me that he would get me killed if I did not adhere to his demands. After that, both of them took turns to rape the victim. They also clicked nude pictures and a video”.

After the act in Himachal, Both men threatened the victim to abduct her if she disclosed the matter to the police or anybody. The victim in the FIR stated “We did not tell anyone about this incident out of fear and shame. About two months ago, they called us to Rocky’s house in Panchkula, where they threatened to file a false case against us and to trap us”.

After that, we managed to find Rocky Mittal’s address in Panchkula and Badoli’s address in Sonipat and their mobile phone numbers”. The lady while filing the FIR requested the officers. She said and I quote, “I am requesting that justice should be given to me. Strict action should be taken against Badoli and Mittal. Also, my nude pictures and videos should be deleted from their mobile phones”

Now amidst the allegations BJP Haryana Chief Badoli Spoke to The Indian Express. He said, “It is all baseless accusations. There is nothing like that. I have no clue what it is all about. Such FIRs can also be fudged. It could be due to the upcoming elections in Delhi that such fake FIRs are being circulated.”

Furthermore, Badoli while speaking to the media late on Tuesday said “that he was a “victim of political conspiracy”. Meanwhile, Rocky Mittal, the co-accused in the case, admitted to being present in Kasauli on the day of the crime. Mittal also claimed that he was being dragged into the case due to internal rivalry among BJP leaders in the Sonipat district.

According to reports, Singer Mittal also stated that he was not aware of the case. He had come to know about the case through the media on Tuesday. He said, “Not even a single cop or any investigation agency contacted me before that. Now, I request PM Modi to order a CBI probe into the case”.

Superintendent of Police (Solan), Gaurav Singh confirmed that a case has been registered in this matter. He said and I quote, “Yes, the FIR has been registered at Kasauli police station. The statements of some of the suspects have already been recorded, while a few are yet to be recorded in the coming days. The investigation is ongoing. No arrests have been made so far”.

Reacting to the controversy, Haryana PCC chief Udai Bhan said it was about time PM Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and BJP national president J P Nadda broke their silence on the allegations against a senior party functionary.

Mohan Lal Badoli was elected to the Haryana Legislative Assembly from Rai in the 2019 Haryana Legislative Assembly election as a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Mohan Lal Badoli is closely related to Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh from 1989.

Well, this is not the first such case against a BJP Leader. There are hundreds of such cases lying pending against the Bharatiya Janata Party Leaders, Chiefs, MPs, workers, and members.

Along with the Himachal case, another recent case has come to light from Madhya Pradesh. A BJP leader from Sidhi district was arrested on Tuesday on charges of raping a woman leader and extorting money, police said.

The BJP immediately expelled accused Ajitpal Singh Chouhan from the party after he was arrested. The FIR stated that the victim was also a BJP leader. She was allegedly raped under the pretext of giving her a party ticket. The accused allegedly filmed the video of the incident and used it to extort money.

Another case is from Tamil Nadu. Here the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Tamil Nadu state functionary was arrested by the police on Monday, January 13. The arrested leader is MS Shah, former Madurai Corporation councilor and president of the economic wing of Tamil Nadu BJP.

Shah was arrested for allegedly sexually abusing a minor, under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO). The arrest was made based on the complaint lodged by the father of the 15-year-old girl. The case was closed last year and was reopened after fresh evidence emerged.

The next case is again From Madhya Pradesh. A senior office bearer of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was booked on rape charges filed by a woman. Following this, the BJP leader resigned from his post. The case was registered against Vidisha district BJP Vice President Yogendra Singh Solanki.

According to the Police, the complainant woman is 23 years old and she lodged the complaint against Solanki on 5 December. The woman alleged that Singh had been sexually exploiting her for a long time.

The next case is from Uttarakhand. The BJP in September last year suspended its block chief from Almora in Uttarakhand. This comes after he was booked for the rape of a 14-year-old minor girl.

The Congress held Statewide protests attacking the ruling party for its record on crimes against women. The accused Bhagwat Bora, the BJP chief in the Salt Block, will remain suspended from the party and his position until he is acquitted in the rape case.

Another recent case is from Bengaluru. A 40-year-old woman has filed a complaint against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Munirathna Naidu. She accused him of rape and blackmail over a span of two years. The woman alleged that Munirathna filmed the assault and used the footage to blackmail her.

BJP leader Munirathna faces two more charges. One involves allegations of caste-based atrocities, filed by a former Bengaluru corporator at the Vyalikaval police station. The second case involves a BBMP contractor who has accused him of demanding a bribe of ₹30 lakh and swindling ₹20 lakh for garbage disposal services.

The next case is from Gujarat which occurred in November 2024. The Bharatiya Janata Party corporator from Anand Municipality’s Ward number 6, Dilip Prajapati, was booked after a woman filed an FIR accusing him of raping her. Following the FIR, the Anand district unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) suspended Prajapati from the party’s primary membership.

The question remains whether the Ruling Bharatiya Janata Party leaders have such cases against them. How can a woman feel safe in their state? How can they promise the safety of women and children?
