MMRDA has signed an MoU with the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management, Government of Netherlands to enforce sustainable urban development in the MMR at the World Economic Forum, Davos 2024.

This is a promising step for MMRDA directed towards achieving its dream of sustainable urban development in and around the MMR. The joint declaration ensures a five-year partnership that will allow the Dutch expertise and financial contributions to transform the MMR in terms of integrated waste management, climate resilience and circular economy.

The knowledge-sharing goals of the MoU illuminate the pathway for MMRDA’s collaboration with potential and active Dutch companies, namely Sustainable Business Development (SusBDe), Harvest Waste B.V. (Including 9 to 10 companies in the consortia of Harvest Waste), Technimex, Hydraloop, and Deerns (Healthcare). Moreover, other Dutch companies involved in landfill gas extraction, such as Afvalzorg, Multriwell, Hofstetter, Indaver, and Enwell, will also majorly contribute to the objectives of knowledge sharing. Blue Phoenix Group, Royal Haskoning DHV, Rebel Group, BrEAD B.V., and Metasus are Dutch companies associated with Water Processing that will also support the cause. Finally, Water Purification companies like Paques, Nijhuis Industries, Econvert Water & Energy, Colsen, and Colubris Cleantech will share their expertise to support the MMR’s sustainable urban development of the MMR. Thus, the extended exposure to the technological brilliance and voluminous knowledge resources of these Dutch companies under the guidance of the Netherlands’ Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy is promised to the MMR through the signing of this MoU.

MMRDA is implementing environmentally conscious projects that will reshape urban infrastructure by mitigating the adverse effects of climate change, air pollution, emission of greenhouse gases. Thus, this Joint Declaration was envisioned to promote cooperation between MMRDA and the Government of the Netherlands in relation to guiding the sustainable development of the MMR. The Joint Declaration entails the sharing of best practices in smart city master planning, as well as integrated waste management. Moreover, this partnership will aid the MMR in its battle against climate change, alongside supporting its journey of attaining the Livability Goals, as well as becoming a circular economy through sustainable urban development. The mutual cooperation will benefit both sides with the exchange of information on sectoral services, opportunities, and events. Hence, the partnership between the MMRDA and the Government of the Netherlands is assured to make the gleaming future of the MMR much brighter.
