National Herald Case: Sonia Gandhi Called For Round 3 of Questioning

The Congress has planned another Satyagraha today. The protests began at 10 am in the morning and will continue till Sonia Gandhi returns from the ED office.

 

New Delhi| Congress president Sonia Gandhi will appear before Enforcement Directorate in the National Herald money laundering investigation for the third day on Wednesday. She appeared before ED officials on July 21. On the first day, she was questioned for 3 hours. Her second appearance before the probe agency was on Tuesday i.e. July 26. She was questioned for 6 hours then. According to reports, she has been asked 75 questions related to the National Herald case so far.

According to sources, on Tuesday, when the ED asked her about the transactions of companies, Sonia Gandhi replied that all transactions related to Congress, Associate Journal and Young Indian were looked after by former treasurer Motilal Vora.

Congress To Continue Protests

Meanwhile, Congress will continue to protest for the second consecutive day. Yesterday, the Congress workers stormed the streets of Delhi in support of Sonia Gandhi. During the protest, 50 Congress MPs, including Rahul Gandhi, were detained by the Delhi Police. All of them were released after the interrogation of Sonia Gandhi was over.

Congress Sevadal workers protested at AICC headquarters in Delhi today against the questioning of the party’s interim president Sonia Gandhi by the Enforcement Directorate. The Congress has planned another Satyagraha today. The protests began at 10 am in the morning and will continue till Sonia Gandhi returns from the ED office.

On the other hand, police and security forces have been deployed in large numbers outside the Congress office.

ED Is Staging “Tamasha”: Ashok Gehlot

Senior Congress leaders who are in Delhi to support the Congress president facing ED questioning termed the agency action as harassment.

Senior leader Mallikarjun Kharge said that ED is harassing the Congress party. He said that the Congress President is being summoned again and again by the ED even though she has been facing health issues. “It is an attempt to demoralise our workers. But we won’t be intimidated,” said Kharge.
