A day after Ratan Tata’s death, his stepbrother Noel Tata was appointed as the chairman of Tata Trusts. On Friday, the board of Tata Trusts unanimously elected him as its chairman.
What is Tata Trusts?
Tata Trusts is the umbrella body that manages the functions of all 14 Tata Trusts. Tata Trusts own 65.3% of Tata Sons and play a significant role in guiding the direction of one of India’s largest conglomerates.
According to India Today, 67-year-old Noel Tata is already a trustee in the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust and the Sir Ratan Tata Trust, which hold a 66% stake in Tata Sons, the holding company of the Tata Group. This includes a 52% stake held directly by the Sir Dorabji and Sir Ratan Tata Trusts.
