CBI officials conducted searches at the residence of suspended TMC leader Shajahan Sheikh in Sandeshkhali as part of their investigation into an attack on an ED team. The search extended to areas near his house in Akunchipara locality to gather evidence of the incident.
Sheikh, who was suspended from the Trinamool Congress, had been arrested following a mob attack on ED officials in Sandeshkhali. The attack occurred during a raid on his premises concerning an alleged ration distribution scam. The CBI team and forensic and ED officials joined forces to support the investigation, with central forces deployed in the area for their protection.

CBI officials broke the seal placed by the ED on Sheikh’s home to conduct their search, employing videography and area mapping for a thorough investigation. Before this, the CBI had visited Sheikh’s house and office, finding them locked and documenting the premises from outside.
Sheikh, along with associates, faced allegations of sexual abuse and land grabbing in Sandeshkhali. After evading capture for 55 days, he was apprehended in Minakhan area. Sheikh faces charges in two cases filed at Nazat Police Station for assaulting ED officers during the raid at his house.
On Wednesday, the CBI obtained custody of Sheikh from the West Bengal CID, furthering their investigation into the matter.
