US: Indian-Origin Student Shreyas Reddy Found Dead, 4th Death This Year

On Thursday, a student of Indian origin was discovered dead in the United States, marking the fourth such case of this year and the third in a week.

Shreyas Reddy Beniger, 19, attended the Ohio Linder School of Business. Shreyas’ parents reside in Hyderabad, according to officials, although he holds an American passport, according to reports. In this case, the authorities have ruled out any chance of foul play or hate crimes

Beniger’s cause of death is being investigated, according to the Indian Mission in New York, which has expressed its sorrow.

“Deeply saddened by the unfortunate demise of Mr. Shreyas Reddy Benigeri, a student of Indian origin in Ohio. Police investigation is underway. At this stage, foul play is not suspected. The Consulate continues to remain in touch with the family and is extending all possible assistance to them,” the Indian Consulate in New York posted on X – earlier known as Twitter.

Shockingly, this was the fourth death in this year of an Indian student in the US.

Purdue University student Neel Acharya was discovered dead earlier this week. Acharya’s mother reported him missing on Sunday. A few hours later, Acharya’s body was found on the campus of the university.
In a social media post, his mother, Gaury, had asked for assistance locating him. She claimed that an Uber driver had left him off at the college, where she had last seen him.

On January 16, a homeless guy in Lithonia, Georgia, hammered Vivek Saini, a citizen of Panchkula, Haryana, to death.

Faulkner is a homeless man. According to reports, Saini had occasionally offered the man water, food, and even a jacket. The furious attack on January 16 allegedly resulted from the 25-year-old’s refusal to give Faulkner free food; the police claimed that the man struck the student 50 times.

In January, Akul Dhawan, another Indian student, was discovered dead outside the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). According to the autopsy, the 18-year-old’s cause of death was hypothermia. However, following Akul Dhawan’s reported absence, his parents have filed a complaint, accusing the university’s police department of carelessness and delay.
