Accused Of Instigating Riots, BJP Leader Kapil Mishra Gets 24×7 Security

BJP leader Kapil Mishra’s security has been heightened after he allegedly received death threats. He will now get Y+ category security.

New Delhi| Bharatiya Janata Party leader Kapil Mishra, accused of inciting riots in northeast Delhi, has been provided with 24×7 security. After assessing the threat perception to his life, the saffron party leader has been provided with “Y” category security — which entitles him to six security personnel round-the-clock to guard him in and outside the city.

The Opposition has sought FIRs against Kapil Mishra and other BJP leaders for hate-mongering during the Delhi election campaign and ahead of the communal violence in northeast Delhi.

Sources said after receiving threats on social media, Kapil Mishra had raised concern over his safety.

Mishra, who joined BJP last year, tweeted on Sunday (March 1) morning that he was receiving threats to his life on the phone, WhatsApp and email, both from India and abroad. He also tweeted that he does not fear the hate campaign launched against him.

The Congress on Friday asked why FIRs had not been filed against BJP leaders like Kapil Mishra for alleged hate speeches after the Delhi High Court sought the Centre’s response on pleas seeking cases against Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.

The Congress also said it would give a strong reply in court over the matter.

As per the home ministry’s guidelines, security cover is divided into four categories — Z-plus (highest level), Z, Y and X.

On February 23, Mishra led a gathering in support of CAA at Maujpur Chowk in the Jafarabad area, after which violence erupted between pro and anti-citizenship law groups and eventually led to intense communal riots which continued for three days leaving at least 46 people dead.
