Mumbai: As the government formation process has reached its final momentum in Maharashtra, Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray on Friday met his party’s legislators to discuss the political situation in the state. Even close sources also said that AICC and Maharashtra Congress leaders and NCP leaders are also going to held the meeting for government formation.
ShivSena MLA Bhaskar Jadhav said that the meeting was convened to appraise the legislators of the government formation process and meetings of Congress-NCP leaders in Delhi. Uddhav Thackeray met NCP president Sharad Pawar in Mumbai last night.
The Maharashtra chief minister will be from the Shiv Sena and the Sharad Pawar-led NCP has not demanded the top post during state-level meetings on government formation, said Congress leader Manikrao Thakare.
Sources suggested that the chief ministerial post may go to the Shiv Sena for five years. Thakare also said that leaders of the three parties will sit together later on Friday to clarify some pending issues and also to decide the time to approach Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari to stake a claim for forming the government.
Congress leader Manikrao Thakare said the Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress are holding their internal meetings and will decide the timing of their joint meeting later today.
The Congress is also scheduled to elect its legislature party leader later in the day. AICC general secretaries Mallikarjun Kharge and KC Venugopal are expected to attend the meeting to elect the legislature party leader.
