Amidst ‘Maha’ power struggle, Sonia Gandhi’s close aide Ahmed Patel meets Nitin Gadkari

However, some reports also believe that modi govt has charged Nitin Gadkari with the responsibility of filling into late. Arun Jaitley’s shoes.

Mumbai: In a major twist to the ongoing power tussle in Maharashtra, Sonia Gandhi confidante Ahmed Patel met Union Minister Nitin Gadkari at his residence. The meeting came at a time when ShivSena is at loggerheads with the BJP over sharing of CM post. ShivSena had also indicated that if BJP does not concede to its demands then, it has other options open (Allying with Congress, NCP).

Earlier, ShivSena leader Kishor Tiwari had written a letter to RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat complaining that BJP is not following the ‘Coalition Dharma’. The RSS however, threw weight behind Nitin Gadkari-its blue-eyed boy and asked him to broker peace between the warring parties.

On Tuesday, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat held a private meeting with Devendra Fadnavis. Reportedly, he told Fadnavis to end the tussle with ShivSena and form a stable government in the state before the verdict in the Ayodhya case, which is expected in a few days.

After the meeting, Ahmed Patel said that the meet was intended to discuss the farmers’ issues across the country who are faced with unseasonal rain. However, he said there was a discussion on the deadlock in Maharashtra Government formation.

However, some reports also believe that modi govt has charged Nitin Gadkari with the responsibility of filling into late. Arun Jaitley’s shoes. Jaitley was known as a friendly face who had cordial relation with other party leaders. Since the Winter Session of the parliament is also scheduled to begin this month, the BJP has been looking for someone who can play the role of the bridge between the Opposition and the treasury benches.

Gadkari is known to enjoy cordial relations with the opposition, thus BJP has trusted him with the responsibility.
