New Delhi| The Lok Sabha today witnessed an uproar by the members of the ruling party as the bill to reorganize Jammu and Kashmir was tabled in Lok Sabha. Home Minister Amit Shah who seemed aggressive said they are ready to lay their lives for Jammu and Kashmir.

Shah was replying to a question posed by Congress’ leader in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury. Chowdhury raised questions over Amit Shah saying Kashmir is India’s internal matter. He said, “Kashmir was taken to UN, we have Shimla Agreement, Lahore Agreement already. A few days ago External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar told Mike Pompeo that Kashmir is a bilateral issue between India and Pakistan. Then how does Amit Shah claim it to be the internal matter?” Soon after this question, the Lok Sabha witnessed ruling party members rising in protest.

However, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said that the treasury benches have misunderstood his and Congress party’s stand. “I want to be enlightened by you,” he said. He also asked whether the bill takes into consideration Pak Occupied Kashmir.

Reacting to this, Amit Shah who seemed aggressive asked Why shouldn’t one be aggressive about this issue? He said, “I am ready to lay my life for Jammu and Kashmir.”

Abolishing Article 370:

The central government today revoked Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir. This means there won’t be any special status granted to it. President Ram Nath Kovind has invoked his powers granted under Article 370 (3) to declare it inoperative. The government also proposed to make Jammu and Kashmir separate Union Territory with a legislature while Ladakh will also be a separate Union Territory without legislature.

Opposition Claims ‘Black Day’ for democracy:

Describing the revoking of Article 370 as a “black day” in the country’s constitutional history, the Congress on Monday alleged that the government “dismembered” Jammu and Kashmir by “mischievously misinterpreting” articles in the Constitution, and cautioned that the idea of India as a union of states is in “grave danger”.
