Bengaluru Women who chanted ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ at Owaisi rally charged with sedition

New Delhi: A young woman named Amulya Leona on Thursday raised ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ slogans at a rally in Bengaluru against the Citizenship Amendment Act or CAA in the presence of AIMIM supremo Asaduddin Owaisi has been charged with sedition, with a judicial magistrate denying her bail. Amulya has been sent to judicial custody for 14 days.

Amulya asked people to shout with her “Pakistan Zindabad” after the organizers of the event under the banner of “Save Constitution” invited her to address the rally soon after Owaisi came on the stage.

Meanwhile, immediately Owaisi rushed to snatch the mic from her hands and was joined by others who tried to remove her from the stage. But the woman adamantly raised the slogan repeatedly.

Later, the police stepped in and removed her from the stage. Owaisi then addressed the rally, saying he did not agree with the woman.

The AIMIM supremo said “Neither I nor my party has any connection with her and we denounce her. The organizers should not have invited her here. If I knew about this, I would not have come here. We are for India and we no way support our enemy country Pakistan and our entire drive is to save India,”.

JD(S) leader Imran Pasha claimed she was planted by some rival group to disrupt the event. Pasha said the women were not in the list of speakers and demanded that the police probe the matter seriously.

DCP Bengaluru (West), B Ramesh said: “We have filed a suo moto case u/s 124A (sedition), 153A&B (promoting enmity between different groups and imputations. He asserted the prejudicial to national integration). Once formalities are done we will produce Amulya before a judicial magistrate.”

After the incident immediately the Karnataka BJP slammed Owaisi for the incident, saying “Those who support Pakistan should go there forever”.

Karnataka BJP added, “Anti-CAA Activist Amulya Leona shouts PAKISTAN ZINDABAD in the presence of AIMIM Chief @asadowaisi at Bengaluru. The truth is that agitation against #CAA are a joint venture between Pakistan and Anti-National Forces led by @INCIndia and those who are backing Pakistan should go there forever,”.
