Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2019

BJP accuses NCP leader Praful Patel of having ties with D company

BJP spokesperson Patra said, “The media has exposed the link between Praful Patel and Dawood’s D-Company.”

Mumbai| Before the Assembly elections in Maharashtra and Haryana, the BJP has attacked the Congress and the Nationalist Congress Party, for its connection with Dawood Ibrahim. On Sunday, the BJP, in a press conference in Mumbai, made a big disclosure about the relationship between former aviation minister and senior NCP leader Praful Patel and Dawood’s D Company.

In the press conference, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra questioned the Congress over the connection between Iqbal Mirchi, a close aide of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, and former Civil Aviation Minister Praful.

BJP spokesperson Patra said, “The media has exposed the link between Praful Patel and Dawood’s D-Company.” After that I want to ask the interim president of the Congress, Sonia Gandhi, whether her party will form an alliance with the NCP after this revelation.ā€ He said that the documents (signed by Patel and Mirchi’s wife) have come out and it is clear that NCP is lying.

The NCP clarified that Iqbal Mirchi died in London in 2013 and Praful Patel did not have any dealings with him. On this, Sambit Patra accused the NCP of trying to save Patel.

Praful Patel’s connection with D Company was revealed after the ED’s action at two Mumbai-based builders. The ED had received some documents during the operation which brought up Praful Patel’s name. The ED grilled Mirchi’s two associates in connection with Mirchi’s relationship with politicians and builders, who were allegedly involved in the transaction of assets related to the D-Company. Both the accused have been identified as real estate broker Ranjit Singh Bindra and former chairman of Sir Mohammed Yusuf Trust-Aaron Yusuf, both of whom are residents of Mumbai.

The ED then focused on the 15-story Ceejay House during its investigation into the money laundering-terror funding case. According to the deal, Mirchi transferred the plot owned by his wife Hajra Memon to Millennium Developers Private Limited in Worli, Mumbai. Please tell that Praful Patel and his wife Varsha own a lot of shares in this company.

Millennium developers then built the Ceejay House, a commercial-cum-residential building on that plot. The list of Mirchi’s properties in India and the UK suggests that Ceejay House was formed in 2006-07 as a joint venture between Mirchi and Millennium Developers Private Limited.

In 2007, Millennium developers gave Mirchi’s family the third and fourth floors of this building. According to ED sources, the two floors were valued at around Rs 200 crore. All the claims made by the ED have been made on the basis of documents during investigation in 11 different places in Bangalore and Mumbai in the last two weeks. On the basis of these documents, the ED recorded the statements of 18 persons after seizing the e-mail and digital evidence.

On the other hand, NCP released a statement on Saturday. The statement said that the Patel family had bought the property, on which the Maharaja of Gwalior built the Ceejay House in 1963.
