BJP blames Mamata Banerjee for creating emergency like situation in West Bengal

New Delhi | The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) today criticised Mamata Banerjee for her protest against CBI’s attempt to question the Kolkata Police commissioner in connection with chit fund scams.

Addressing a press conference, BJP leader and Union Minister Prakash Javadekar blamed Mamata Banerjee responsible for the emergency like situation in West Bengal. Javadekar said, “Whatever is happening in Kolkata and West Bengal is one of a kind. Never before was an investigating team taken into custody by police. It’s murder of democracy.”

Questioning Banerjee over her protest, the Union Minister asked,”Why is Mamata Banerjee staging a dharna, who does she want to shield? Police Commissioner or herself? Taking a dig at the opposition parties for their support to Mamata Banerjee’s protest Javadekar asked, “Who are these people? They are out on bail. Such people are standing together. This is not Mahagathbandhan, they are divided by vision and united by corruption. The corrupt are standing together.”

Protesting against “the attack on constitutional norms” West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee sat on a dharna outside the Metro Channel. Mamata Banerjee sit-in over the CBI’s attempt to question the Kolkata Police commissioner in connection with chit fund scams continued on Monday.

Several political leaders, including Congress president Rahul Gandhi, Arvind Kejriwal, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister M Chandrababu Naidu, RJD national president Lalu Prasad, came out in support of Banerjee against the Union government.
