Breaking: Yediyurappa’s Disciple Basavaraj Bommai To Be New Karnataka CM

According to the reports, it was former Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa who proposed the name of Basavaraj Bommai, which was approved.

 

After a day full of suspense, BJP has finally revealed the name of Karnataka’s new Chief Minister. State Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai will be the new CM of the state. Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa, who resigned at a meeting of the Legislative Party at 7 pm, proposed Bommai’s name. It was passed unanimously. According to the information, Bommai will take oath of office at 11 am on Wednesday.

Born on January 28, 1960, Basavaraj Somappa Bommai is the Minister of Home, Law and Parliamentary Affairs of Karnataka. His father SR Bommai has also been the Chief Minister of the state. Basavaraj, a graduate in mechanical engineering, started politics with the Janata Dal. He was twice elected to the Karnataka Legislative Council from Dharwad in 1998 and 2004. After this he left Janata Dal and joined BJP in 2008. In the same year, he was elected as an MLA from Shiggaon in Haveri district.

Irrigation Affairs Expert

Being an engineer and associated with agriculture, Basavaraj is considered to be expert in the irrigation affairs of Karnataka. He is credited for starting many irrigation projects in the state. He is also credited with implementing India’s first 100% pipe irrigation project in his constituency.

A meeting was called at 7 pm on Tuesday to elect the leader of the legislative party in Karnataka. It included BJP general secretary and in-charge of Karnataka G Kishan Reddy, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Karnataka BJP president Nalin Kumar Katil, former chief minister Yediyurappa and many other senior leaders of the state. In the meeting, it was former Chief Minister who proposed Bommai’s name, which was approved. Earlier, an informal meeting was going on at Yediyurappa’s residence from 4 pm.

 

Yediyurappa suggested Bommai’s name

Karnataka Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai is Yediyurappa’s favorite and his disciple. According to sources, Yediyurappa had suggested Bommai’s name to the BJP high command even before he resigned. In fact, in a meeting with the seers of the Lingayat community, Yediyurappa had put this name among them.
