BSP won’t have alliance with Congress in any state: Mayawati

New Delhi | Amid rumours of a pre-poll alliance with the Congress party in states other than Uttar Pradesh for the upcoming Lok Sabha election, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati today clarified that BSP won’t be having any sort of alliance with the Congress party.

Speaking to news agency ANI, Mayawati said,”It has been reiterated once again that Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) will not have any alliance with Congress party in any state, to contest the upcoming elections.”

BSP who extended support to the Congress government in states of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh after the legislative assembly election sidelined the grand old party while forming a pre-poll alliance in Uttar Pradesh along with Samajwadi Party (SP) and Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD).

The SP-BSP-RLD alliance a gesture to the Congress party won’t be filling its candidate on Raibareli and Amethi constituency, seats from which UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Congress president Rahul Gandhi will be contesting.

As announced by the Election Commission of India (ECI) general election for the 17th Lok Sabha will be held in 7 phase from 11th April till 19th April while the counting of votes will be held on 23rd May.
