Chandrababu Naidu meets Arvind Kejriwal to seek support for Andhra Pradesh special status demand

According to sources, Chandrababu Naidu explained the need for special status to Andhra Pradesh and unjust treatment given to people of Andhra Pradesh.

The soured former NDA ally of BJP, Telugu Desam Party is seeking to galvanise the opposition support for the Special Status for Andhra Pradesh. For this, the TDP chief and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has met several opposition leaders in the past. Continuing this streak, he met Delhi chief minister and AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal in Delhi’s Andhra Bhavan today.

According to sources, Naidu explained the need for special status to Andhra Pradesh and unjust treatment given to people of Andhra Pradesh by the centre despite the promise after Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act.

The TDP MPs have moved a no-confidence motion against the incumbent Modi government in the Lok Sabha. The no-confidence motion is supported by the opposition parties. The TDP claims that the Speaker is not taking up the No-confidence motion despite the mover claiming support of 80 MPs in its favour.

Earlier, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee had visited opposition leaders in Delhi and had asserted the need for the federal front to defeat BJP ahead of 2019 General Elections. However, Andhra Pradesh government clarified that the meet of both the leaders was not political in nature and only focused on securing state’s interest.

Chandrababu Naidu also met Congress’s chief whip in Lok Sabha Jyotiraditya Scindia, NCP chief Sharad Pawar, Shiv Sena’s Anant Geete, TMC leaders Derek O’Brien and Sudip Bandopadhyay and leaders of SP and BSP. However, Naidu’s talks on the sideline of the visit with BJP senior leader Murli Manohar Joshi raised the eyebrows. He also met some BJP MPs, including Civil Aviation Minister Jayant Sinha and Hema Malini.
