Congress appoints Ahmed Patel as the new AICC treasurer

New Delhi | The Congress party on Tuesday announced that Rajya Sabha MP and Veteran leader Ahmed Patel would be the new treasurer of the All India Congress Committee.

A close aide of Sonia Gandhi, Patel will replace Senior leader Motilal Vohra who is now appointed as the new AICC general secretary (administration). In a series of administrative changes announced on Tuesday, the Congress party also appointed former Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar as a permanent invitee to the Congress Working Committee.

Congress president Rahul Gandhi also appointed former Union Minister Anand Sharma as the new chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Department of AICC replacing veteran leader Dr. Karan Singh.

Acting on the complaints against Congress leader CP Joshi filled by the various local leaders from the NorthEast, Congress President today appointed Luiznho Falerio as the new AICC in charge of North East states (excluding Assam). Falerio will replace CP Joshi as the new AICC in charge.
