Congress manifesto to release today: what can you expect?

All eyes are on Congress manifesto release today as it comes less than 10 days ahead of the first phase of the 2019 Lok Sabha election.

 

New Delhi| Amidst the heated campaigning by political parties ahead of the first phase of Lok Sabha election, Congress party will release its manifesto today. Rahul Gandhi will release Congress Manifesto on Tuesday. The manifesto is expected to include the minimum income plan (NYAY) and the right to health, along with the farmers’ loan waiver, abolishing NITI Ayog, etc.

Minimum Income Guarantee:

Congress manifesto committee chairman P. Chidambaram and other senior leaders are likely to be present at the release. Congress President Rahul Gandhi had announced a few days ago that if his party comes to power, the minimum income scheme would be implemented to conduct “Surgical Strike on Poverty”. Under this, Congress promised that Rs. 6,000 per month will be given to the 5 million poor families of the country whose income is less than Rs. 12000 per month.

Filling vacancies in govt jobs:

He can also include promises to fill the vacancies of 22 lakh government jobs. He had said on Sunday that there are about 22 lakh government jobs vacancies, which will be filled up by March 31 next year if Congress comes to power.

Women’s Reservation Bill:

Congress can also emphasize on the promise of 33 per cent reservation for women in government jobs. Congress president Rahul Gandhi had addressed a rally in Rajasthan saying that if Congress comes to power, 33 per cent reservation for women will be applied in Lok Sabha and Assembly elections.

GST reforms:

Rahul Gandhi had also promised to increase the spending on education up to 6% of the GDP. Apart from this, Rahul Gandhi has also time and again declared the party’s vision to bring the GST cap to 18% and the scrapping of NITI Aayog.
