Congress must not spread wrong impression by leaving 7 seats vacant in UP: BSP Chief Mayawati

Uttar Pradesh | BSP Chief Mayawati on Monday spoke about the seat sharing in the SP-BSP alliance in Uttar Pradesh in the upcoming 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

Mayawati said, “Congress party is absolutely free to contest

“Congress must not spread the wrong impression by leaving 7 seats vacant in UP for SP, BSP and RLD”, she added.

This comes following the Congress’s decision as a courtesy to not contest 7 seats, left aside for the key leaders in the SP-BSP alliance. The alliance had announced that they would not contest 2 seats, kept for Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi from Amethi and Raebareli.

The seats the Congress will skip include Mainpuri, from where Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav is contesting, Kannauj, where his daughter-in-law Dimple Yadav is expected to run. Besides, the prospective seats of Rashtriya Lok Dal’s Ajit Singh and Jayant Chaudhary, as well as Mayawati, would be on the Congress “no contest” list.
