Sonia Gandhi said that thousands of youth, especially students of the country, have understood the damage caused by CAA.
New Delhi| Congress President Sonia Gandhi discussed the Citizenship Law (CAA) and National Population Register (NPR) and the current situation in the country at a party working committee meeting on Saturday. On this occasion, she appealed to the Congress leaders to stand with the people of the country against the CAA. The Congress President said that the CAA is a discriminatory and a law dividing the country on the basis of religion. On the other hand, Home Minister Amit Shah said in a program in Gujarat that the opposition is campaigning against the CAA.
Sonia told the party executive members that we should declare that lakhs of Congress workers are with the people of the country in defence of equality, law, justice and dignity. She said that the Citizenship Amendment Bill was passed in the winter session of Parliament after protests from the opposition.

Sonia said that thousands of youth, especially students of the country, have understood the damage caused by CAA. They are on the streets facing the cold weather as well as the police and bureaucrats. A commission should be set up to investigate violent incidents during demonstrations. The government is trying its best to suppress the protest. No day passes when the Home Minister and the Prime Minister do not make provocative statements.
On the other hand, in Gandhi Nagar, Amit Shah denied the opposition’s allegations about CAA. He said that CAA is being misinformed. My open challenge to the opposition parties is to tell them where there is a provision for revoking citizenship. He said that the government is also working to improve the economy. From 1947 to 2014, the economy was worth $ 2 trillion. The Narendra Modi government increased it to $ 3 trillion from 2014 to 2019. India is set to achieve a target of $ 5 trillion in 2024.
