Congress won’t last even 3 months: BS Yeddyurappa

Bengaluru: BJP Karnataka Chief BS Yeddyurappa on Wednesday ahead of HD Kumaraswamy’s oath-taking ceremony predicted that “Congress- JDS coalition government won’t last “even three months”.

“Despite being rejected by voters, the Congress and JDS (Janata Dal Secular) are forming the government. According to me they won’t even last three months,” Mr Yeddyurappa told a media house.

“People of Karnataka gave a positive mandate to us. BJP won 104 seats and people rejected the Congress and JDS,” he said.

The former chief minister also confirmed that no BJP leader would be present at the oath ceremony of Mr Kumaraswamy, who is expected to be sworn in along with a deputy from the Congress and a few ministers.

The Karnataka BJP is celebrating an “anti-mandate day” today on the eve of HD Kumaraswamy’s oath-taking ceremony.

BJP emerged as the single largest party in the recent Karnataka assembly election but failed short of an outright majority. The congress- JDS post-poll alliance then claimed stake of the government with HD Kumaraswamy as the Chief Minister.
