Union Home Minister Amit Shah is expected to make a statement in the Lok Sabha around 8 pm today on Northeastern Delhi riots.
New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to reply today to a short duration discussion in Lok Sabha on last month’s communal violence in Delhi.
On Wednesday, the Lok Sabha is likely to discuss the recent violence in Delhi. The debate will be held under Rule 193 of the house proceedings which means there will be no voting after the discussions.
The Lower House was adjourned many times last week over the Opposition’s demand for a debate on Delhi violence. The Lok Sabha is expected to discuss recent law and order situation in North-East Delhi.
This will be the first time that the Union Home Minister would give an official statement on the violence that rocked the national capital from February 23 to February 26 in which at least 53 were people killed and more than 200 sustained injuries.
Shah has been criticised by the Opposition for not giving a statement on the issue and not visiting the riot-hit areas.
