Enough of Talks With Ministers, PM and HM Should Come Forward Now: Rakesh Tikait at Mahapanchayat

Rakesh Tikait addressing the Mahapanchayat said, “Right now farmers are demanding the repeal of laws, what will the government do when they demand the return of the throne?”

Today is the 71st day of the ongoing farmers’ movement against agricultural laws, but there is no hope of reconciliation. The adamant farmers held a mahapanchayat at Kandela village in Haryana’s Jind district on Wednesday demanding the withdrawal of the law. During the address, Rakesh Tikait, spokesman of the Bharatiya Kisan Union, said that now he will not talk to the Agriculture Minister or any other minister. “Now the Prime Minister and the Home Minister will have to come forward for talks,” he announced.

‘When the king is afraid, he resorts to fortifications’

Tikait further said, “Right now farmers are demanding the repeal of laws, what will the government do when they demand the return of the throne?” “When a king is afraid, the fort resorts to captivity. This is exactly what is happening. The restrictions that have been imposed on the border are not done even for the enemy. But the farmer will not be scared. Farmers will lie on it and cross it,” he added.

Tikait also refused to reduce the number of members of the farmers’ committee for talks by the government. He said, horses are never changed in the middle battle. Those who are members of the committee will remain there.

5 Proposals Passed in Mahapanchayat

1. Government withdraw all three agricultural laws
2. Make MSP law
3. Apply Swaminathan Committee Report
4. People arrested and seized tractors be released
5. Debt of farmers waived
