In EVM mock drill, 9 votes cast but BJP registers 17

Panaji | The ongoing Lok Sabha polls have seen an increasing number of complaints over the faulty EVM machines.

A polling booth in Goa had conducted a mock test before the final voting began, for the third phase.

In the test poll, it was found that BJP had received 17 votes even when only 9 votes were cast.

Aam Aadmi Party’s Goa chief Elvin Gomes raised this issue on Twitter.

“Election of shame? Mock poll with 9 votes for each of 6 candidates in booth no 31 in 34 AC in Goa. Total count BJP gets 17, Cong 9 , Aap 8. Ind 1 . Robbery. @SpokespersonECI , @CEO_Goa claims are hollow . @AamAadmiParty pl take up,” his tweet read.

He termed it as ‘Election of fame’.

Following this, Goa’s Chief Electoral Officer(CEO), declared that the EVMs had been changed.

“Entire set of EVM has been replaced for AC 34, PS No 31 as per report from DEO South Goa,” read the CEO’s tweet”.

This wasn’t the first time complaints were raised, Akhilesh Yadav has previously spoken about the issue of faulty EVMs.
