Former Uttarakhand Chief minister ND Tiwari passes away at 93

New Delhi | Former Chief Minister of Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh Narayan Dutt Tiwari on Thursday passed away at the age of 93 in Saket’s Max Hospital.

Tiwari, a veteran Congress leader was admitted in the Max Hospital in September after suffering a brain stroke. He had also suffered from multiple organ failure in July.

ND Tiwari is the only politician in India to serve as the Chief Minister of 2 states. He served as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh for 3 terms (1976тАУ77, 1984тАУ85, 1988тАУ89) and also the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand during the period of 2002 to 2007. Tiwari also served as the governor of Andhra Pradesh from 2007 till 2009. ND Tiwari was the Minister of External Affairs in the Rajiv Gandhi government from 1986-87.

Informing about his demise, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat on Twitter wrote,” Tiwari-ji’s contribution to Uttarakhand can never be forgotten. He played a key role in giving pace to the financial and industrial development of the newly formed Uttarakhand, and helped the state to stand up on its feet,”
