Governor should impose President’s rule in Karnataka: BS Yeddyurappa

Yeddyurappa appealed the governor to take action in Lokayukta stabbing case and impose President’s rule.

The state BJP President and the BJP’s chief ministerial pick BS Yeddyurappa slammed the Siddaramaiah government over the minority status to the lingayat community and grave security error at Lokayukta office. Recently, Karnataka’s Lokayukta Justice PV Shetty was attacked by a complainant in his office. He was stabbed thrice by the attacker with a knife. The state government had come under fire for not updating the security systems on the premises. BS Yeddyurappa citing the incident requested the governor to bring a President’s rule in the state.

BS Yeddyurappa referring to the incident said that a government which cannot even provide security to its judges shouldn’t be allowed to continue in power even for a minute. “In no other state of the country, a sitting Lokayukta was attacked,” said Yeddyurappa. He appealed the governor of the state to take immediate cognizance of this matter and impose President’s rule. He demanded that Siddaramaiah should resign from the post of CM on moral grounds.

Yeddyurappa also alleged that the state’s law and order situation is worsening. Quoting several incidents of Dalit atrocities, murders and loot-arson, he demanded an explanation from the CM of the state. “This is Siddaramaiah government’s record,” the former CM added.

Taking a jibe at Karnataka government’s proposition to give minority status to Lingayat community, the Lingayat leader said that the decision is now opposed by the ministers in the cabinet. “This is just a beginning. He will face more dissent,” claimed Yeddyurappa.

Referring to the allegations made by HN Satyanarayana Rao- Retd. DGP (prisons), the BJP state President claimed that it is an insult to our democratic system that a CM of the state is trying to help a jail inmate. He was talking about HN Satyanarayana Rao’s statement in which he had alleged that Siddaramaiah ordered him to provide luxury facilities to Sasikala. Rao is currently charged with providing special facilities to jailed AIADMK leader Sasikala.
