INX Media case: CBI puts notice outside P Chidambaram’s house, asks him to appear for probe within two hours

On Tuesday night CBI put a notice outside P Chidambaram’s house that asked him to appear before the investigating team within two hours of receiving the summon.

 

New Delhi| Hours after the Delhi high court denied him anticipatory bail, a team of Central Bureau of Investigation visited his house at Jorbagh in New Delhi. However, P Chidambaram wasn’t at home.

 

The CBI team reached his residence at around 6.30 PM. As the leader was not present, the team left the location after 10 minutes. However, late at night the team put a notice on the wall outside P Chidambaram’s house that asked him to appear before the investigating team within two hours of receiving the summon.

 

The letter reads, “Whereas it appears that you are acquainted with the facts and circumstances of the case noted below, which I am now investigating under chapter XII of the Code of Criminal Procedure. You are hereby directed to attend before me within two hours of the receipt of this notice for the purpose of investigation of case. ” The letter is signed by R. Parthasarathy, DySP, CBI. Reportedly, the summon has also been emailed to him.

 

Delhi High Court Denies Bail

P Chidambaram had sought a stay on the arrest for three days. However, the Delhi High court judge said that he being a member of parliament or a lawyer will not have any consideration in the case. Justice Sunil Gaur in his harsh judgement said that the facts reveal that Chidambaram is not only a key conspirator but also a kingpin of the scam.

 

Chidambaram goes incommunicado

 

An hour after CBI visit, a team of Enforcement Directorate too arrived at the location at 7.30 PM. However, P Chidambaram is untraceable. His lawyer and senior Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi said that Chidambaram was with him and both were discussing the case at around 6.30 on Tuesday evening. He said that the two were together for around two hours.

 

Supreme Court is the last hope

 

Meanwhile, Chidambaram has now moved to Supreme Court where he will mention his appeal at 10.30 AM in the morning.
