Jamshedpur: Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee (JPCC) president Ajoy Kumar today described the bye-election results in the state as “victory of democracy” and “defeat of arrogant government”.
Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), which was supported by Congress and other opposition parties, today retained both Silli and Gomia assembly seats in the bye-election.
Kumar and a number of Congress leaders today met JMM working president and former Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren to congratulate him on his party winning both the seats, a JPCC release said.
People have voted for opposition alliance over BJP in the bye-election, he said.
The JPCC chief claimed that the grand alliance of opposition parties in Jharkhand would win the next assembly election and also the 14 Lok Sabha seats in the state in 2019 general election.
