Kamal Hasan hopes Rajinikanth’s political colour is “Not Saffron”

Kamal Hasan speaking at Harvard University said that Rajinikanth and he first must focus on launching their respective political parties and devising policies.

The two new entrants of Tamil Nadu politics, Kamal Hasan and Rajnikanth are trying to forge an alliance in the state. Talking about the possible alliance, veteran actor turned politician Kamal Hasan said that the tie-up seems unlikely. He was speaking at Harvard University on Saturday. Hasan further hoped that “Rajnikanth’s colour is not saffron”.

Kamal Hasan had earlier made it clear that his “colour is not saffron”. It was further made clear when he visited Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan who hails from Communist Party of India (Marxist).

Kamal Hasan spoke about a host of issues that have surrounded the state. A few days ago, the rumours of a political alliance between Rajinikanth and Kamal Hasan were rife. Hasan, however, said, “Our approach is different… His (Rajinikanth’s) very first announcements came in a particular hue. I hope it is not saffron.” He recently had also called for the leaders to introspect whether it was necessary for them to join hands.

Since the death of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalitha, a political vacuum has been created in Tamil Nadu. Both the actors came forward around the same time announcing their political ambitions. Both Rajinikanth and Kamal Hasan are frequently asked whether they will join hands for upcoming civic polls. Answering the question in his column in the magazine ‘Ananda Vikatan’ Hasan said, “Rajini sir, to this question had said that only time will give an answer and I had seconded that view. Truly, only time will answer.”

Kamal Hasan said before thinking about any tie-up both of them first need to formally launch their respective parties and devise policies. Haasan is set to unveil his political party’s name and go on a political tour on February 21. He said, “Aligning with Rajinikanth politically was not like choosing the star cast for films. Both are entirely different things.”

Rajinikanth too had said that there are downsides and there are advantages of the decision. However, he exclaimed, “If you step on the battlefield, you have to win.”
