Kiran Bedi divulging secret official communication: Puducherry CM

The letter highlighted even after taking an oath of office and secrecy as an administrator, Bedi has been revealing all official “secret communications every day in violation of the oath of secrecy.”

Puducherry| The tussle between Puducherry LG Kiran Bedi and the Chief Minister of the Union Territory V Narayanasamy seems to be never-ending. In a letter written to Bedi, Narayanswamy leveled serious allegation on her saying the LG has compromised the security of the region by revealing secret official communications. He said that Kiran Bedi has violated the spirit of the oath of secrecy. Narayanswamy charged that Bedi has been divulging the secret official communication through social media and called it “unbecoming” of a constitutional authority.
The letter highlighted even after taking an oath of office and secrecy as an administrator, Bedi has been revealing all official “secret communications every day in violation of the oath of secrecy.” Talking to reporters, he even recounted his meeting with the LG where he had clarified the powers of LG. He said that Bedi, however, chose to ignore his clarification on the constitutional powers of the elected government.”

The Chief Minister claimed that despite the presence of elected government LG issued orders “day in and day out without authority which only confused the officers”. Addressing the officials, he said, “They need not obey the orders of the Lt Governor and can ignore them.”

Chief Minister Narayanswamy also mentioned in the letter that he is ready to cooperate if LG does not interfere in the working of the elected government. The Chief Minister said in his letter, “I am willing to cooperate with you if you do not block welfare schemes and if you act within the Constitution and the law book.”
