Maharashtra’s opposition alliance, the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), has arrived at a consensus on at least 260 of the 288 Assembly seats for the upcoming assembly polls in the state, according to reports. Reports suggest that MVA allies reached an agreement that the Congress will contest the most number of seats, i.e., 110 to 115 seats, Shiv Sena (UBT) 83 to 86, and NCP (SP) 72 to 75. Leaders of the alliance said a deal will be reached soon on contentious 20 to 25 seats.
“All the alliance partners are demanding these particular seats. Therefore, it is taking time to come to an agreement. We are working out a formula to the satisfaction of all while keeping winning chances in mind, a senior leader of the MVA was quoted saying by the new Indian express.”
The report further claimed that, according to a senior Congress leader, “Two to three seats will be given to the Samajwadi Party, Left parties will get two to three seats, and the Peasants and Workers Party will get two to three seats in assembly polls.”
Meanwhile, the Samajwadi Party’s state president has on record demanding 12 seats. Currently, the party has 2 MLAs in the assembly.
