Missing Congress MLA traced in Bengaluru Hotel

Bengaluru: Ahead of the crucial Karnataka assembly floor test, two Congress MLAs who were missing during the oath ceremony were found in a hotel room in Bengaluru. The Congress alleged that both the lawmakers were being held captive inside a hotel in Bengaluru by the BJP.

Bengaluru Police Commissioner T Suneel Kumar, visited the Hotel along with other senior police officers were the Mla’s are believed to be abducted.

Sources said Ms Raju, the Director General of Police, wanted to check if the lawmakers had been held captive or were there of their own free will. Their families had also been informed, the sources said.

“We have issued a whip to the two MLAs that they should be present in the house,” said Congress MP DK Suresh who was not allowed to enter the hotel premises.

The Congress alleged BJP leader Somshekar Reddy of hiding the two Congress Mla.

Earlier when asked about the missing lawmakers Senior leader DK Shivakumar informed the media that “Still they have not come. Their seats are vacant. Their seats are allotted along with us. They will be our neighbours. They will be with us.”

The Supreme court on Friday ordered the decision of the floor test after hearing long arguments for and against the petition filed by the Congress and Janata Dal (Secular) following Karnataka Governor Vajubhai R. Vala’s invitation to the BJP to form the government in the state. Earlier BS Yeddyurappa took oath as the Chief Minister on Thursday and was given a 15 day time period by the governor to prove majority.

The BJP emerged as a single largest party with 104 MLAs in the recently concluded assembly election but fell short of the halfway mark of 112 by seven MLAs. The Congress extended its support to JD(S) after the result with 115 MLAs and staked claim to form the government.
