90-year-old Motilal Vora likely to be interim Congress chief

New Delhi | As Rahul Gandhi officially submitted his resignation as Congress President, sources have claimed former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister and close aide of Gandhi Family, Motilal Vora could be the interim chief of the Congress party.

Vora, a Rajya Sabha MP would work as the interim Congress President until a new president is elected. Vora a close aide of the Gandhi Family also served as the treasurer of the Congress party.

Earlier a month after the massive Lok Sabha defeat, President Rahul Gandhi had officially resigned from the post of Congress chief. Posting a letter on his twitter account, he wrote that he takes full responsibility for the loss of 2019 elections.

He also said that he was empowered his party to find a new chief who can lead them with courage, love and fidelity. “I owe country and my organisation a debt of tremendous gratitude and love”, Rahul Gandhi said in the letter. “Congress must radically transform itself, it is party’s duty to defend people’s voices that BJP is crushing”, he added.

“I was born a Congressman, this party has always been with me and is my life’s blood and forever that way it shall remain”, he said.
