New Delhi | BJP Karnataka MP Anantkumar Hegde has contributed to the Nathuram Godse row by praising the young generation and saying that Godse would have felt happy in the new environment.
Hegde wrote on Twitter,” Am glad that 7 decades later today’s generation debates in a changed perceptional environment and gives good scope for the condemned to be heard upon. Nathuram Godse would have finally felt happy with this debate!”.

Hegde’s tweet is in response to a tweet from another user who applauded Nathuram Godse for his bravery by sticking through his trail.
The tweet read, “Sure he murdered Gandhi but he didn’t hit & run. He surrendered & faced the trial with heroic courage & left a very powerful testament as to why he murdered Gandhi. I CONDEMN the murder but I admire Godse’s courage in facing the gallows, staying firm on his version of patriotism”.
Nathuram Godse had killed the Father of our Nation, Mahatma Gandhi on January 30, 1948.
Kamal Haasan on Monday had said that Nathuram Godse was Hindu, and was the first terrorist of independent India.
Responding to this, BJP’s Bhopal candidate Pragya Singh Thakur yesterday said that Godse was a “deshbhakt”. The BJP asked her to apologise on the comment.
