Navjot Singh Sidhu takes salary without taking charge: BJP leader complains to Governor

The BJP leader further suggested that if Navjot Singh Sidhu is not ready to take charge if the ministry, someone else should be appointed to the ministry.

 

New Delhi| Amidst the tussle between Punjab CM Amarinder Singha and leader Navjot Singh Sidhu, the state’s Power ministry remains orphaned. Navjot Singh Sidhu who was appointed as Power Minister has not taken charge of the ministry yet. It has been a month since the Punjab government went for a cabinet reshuffle.

The opposition parties have now begun to rais questions over the delay. BJP general secretary Tarun Chugh has complained to the Governor of Punjab. In a letter, said that there has been a constitutional crisis in the state. He said while the Energy Minister is drawing salary on time, he has failed to appear in the ministry.

Talking to a News Agency Chugh said, “I have written a letter to the governor of Punjab. There is a constitutional crisis in the state. It has been more than a month after taking the oath and a minister is absent from his office. They are drawing salaries and enjoying all the amenities.”

He further said that the state is suffering because of the feud between the CM and Sidhu. “Sidhu is missing. There is a constitutional crisis due to a dispute between him and the Chief Minister. I request the governor to take decisions in the interest of Punjab.”

On 6th June, Chief Minister Amarinder Singh had withdrawn the Tourism and Cultural Affairs Department from Sidhu along with the urban department. He was instead given charge of the Ministry of Energy. Amarinder blamed his poor performance for this.
