NCP leader Praful Patel calls Tariq Anwar’s resignation a ‘sad day’

New Delhi | Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Praful Patel on Friday termed the resignation of senior leader and Lok Sabha MP Tariq Anwar as a ‘Sad Day’ for the party.

Speaking to media, Patel said,” It is a sad day for us that our senior colleague has decided to quit Lok Sabha&also NCP. It’s very surprising because he has based his decision on an interview by Sharad Pawar to news channel wherein facts are very clear on Rafale.”

Earlier protesting against the NCP chief Sharad Pawar’s recent statement supporting Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the Indo-France Rafale scam, Anwar quit the party along with resigning from his Lok Sabha post. Speaking about his resignation Anwar said,” He cannot betray the common perception over irregularities in the deal.” He further added, “I resigned after being hurt by Pawar Saheb’s comments. There must be a thorough probe on the corruption in Rafale deal.”

NCP Sharad Pawar while responding to the questions of Rafale deal on a Marathi Channel said, “People have doubts about Modi’s intentions in the Rafale deal.” Rejecting the opposition demand to share technical details relating to the fighter jets, Pawar said, “this made no sense”. He further added that there would be no harm for the government to disclose prices of the aircraft.
