NCP’s Sachin Ahir likely to join Shiv Sena today

Mumbai | Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) is likely to face a major setback before the Maharashtra assembly election as its Mumbai President and Former Minister Sachin Ahir is likely to join Shiv Sena today.

Ahir, a former MoS in the previous Congress-NCP government is the nephew of gangster turned politician Arun Gawli. He was also the MLA from Mumbai Worli constituency in 2009. According to sources, Ahir will be joining Shiv Sena in presence of party chief Uddhav Thackeray at his residence Matoshreee. Thackeray will also be addressing a press conference.

Sachin Ahir joining Shiv Sena is an attempt by the party to make way for Aditya Thackeray who is likely to contest upcoming Assembly election from Worli. The party would like to capitalise the Ahir’s vote bank in the constituency for Junior Thackeray.

Currently, Shiv Sena’s Sunil Shinde is the MLA from Worli Constituency who defeated Ahir by a margin of 23 thousand votes in the 2014 Assembly elections.
