“Never aspired to become CM of Tamil Nadu”: Rajinikanth on his Political Plans

Superstar Rajinikanth outlined his political vision today while addressing a press meet in Chennai, date of party launch hasn’t been set.

Chennai: Actor Rajinikanth, in his first official press conference since December 31, 2017, shot down speculation of CM aspiration, saying the CM candidate of his yet-to-be-launched party would be someone ā€œyoung and well-educatedā€.

On Thursday, the actor-turned-politician said that he does not aspire to become the chief minister of Tamil Nadu but would like to lead his party to power.

With a two-leadership system for party and the government, the former would act as an ā€œoppositionā€ to highlight issues and would not even hesitate to ā€œremoveā€, apparently the head of the government, if it fails to perform, he said.

He called for an ā€œuprisingā€ by youth, after which he would make his formal political entry.

Rajinikanth, 69, took no questions after making his statement. He did not name his upcoming party, or reveal the date of its launch.

Rajinikanth said he will have a limited number of leaders in his party. He also highlighted the ā€œpolitical vacuumā€ in Tamil Nadu and acknowledged that there is a need to fill that space.

The actor had also said in the past that he would be the first person to raise voice even if a single Muslim was affected by the CAA.

The actor said that there will be a place in his party for people of repute in society such as teachers, lawyers, retired IAS officers and youth who want to change the system.
The superstar stressed upon the role of youth and said that more youth should involve themselves in politics.
