“Look For Safer Seat In 2024, Challenge In Varanasi”: TMC Warns As PM Modi Asks If Mamata Contesting From Another Seat

“Look for a safe seat in 2024, as you will be challenged in Varanasi,” TMC tweeted as PM Modi in a rally asked whether Mamata Banerjee is filing nomination from another seat.

Kolkata| The allegations and counter-allegations between the BJP and the ruling TMC have intensified after the second phase of voting for the assembly elections in West Bengal. Yesterday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi claimed during an election rally that Mamata Banerjee was losing the Nandigram seat. TMC has since retaliated. A tweet from the official Twitter handle of the Trinamool Congress has also sparked speculation as to whether West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will contest the Lok Sabha elections from Varanasi in 2024 and challenge Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

TMC tweeted late on Thursday that Didi is winning in Nandigram and there is no question of contesting from another seat. It further said that PM Modi should not mislead people with lies as a nomination in West Bengal is over. “Look for a safe seat in 2024, as you will be challenged in Varanasi,” it tweeted.

Addressing a rally in West Bengal on Thursday afternoon, PM Modi said that rumours were flying that Mamata Banerjee could contest from another seat in the final phase, for which there is still time to file nomination.

PM Modi while addressing a rally in Jayanagar said, “Didi, is there any truth in this rumour that you are going to file your nomination from another constituency? First, you went to Nandigram and people responded to you. If you go elsewhere, the people of Bengal are ready to answer you. ”

Nandigram has become the most high-profile seat in Bengal. There is a fierce contest between Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and her former aid Suvendu Adhikari, who recently joined BJP. TMC spokesman Tapas Roy said, “The countdown to the 2024 elections has begun. Modi will face a tough challenge in Varanasi. Whether or not Mamata Banerjee will contest from Varanasi will be decided by the party and the party supremo.”
