New Delhi | Delhi Congress chief Sheila Dikshit today announced that the party won’t be forming any kind of alliance with the Arvind Kejriwal led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Delhi for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
The Congress Delhi unit chief after a meeting with the National President Rahul Gandhi announced,” A unanimous decision has been taken that there will be no alliance in Delhi.”
Earlier the Aam Aadmi Party had announced its candidates on 6 out of 7 Lok Sabha seats in Delhi. AAP was ready to offer 1 seat to the Congress party and form an alliance with a motive to defeat BJP in the Lok Sabha polls. AAP Delhi convenor Gopal Rai announcing the candidate stated that the AAP took the decision to declare its candidates after it was communicated, first by Congress president Rahul Gandhi and then by the party’s Delhi president Sheila Dikshit that they do not want an alliance for the Lok Sabha polls.
In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) emerged victorious on all the 7 constituencies in Delhi.
