Old fashioned to blame ‘BMC’ for Mumbai floods: Shiv Sena

Mumbai | Shiv Sena today praising the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) for its work said that it is old fashioned to blame the municipal body for floods in Mumbai.

In its Editorial mouthpiece SAMANA, Shiv Sena praised the BMC for its ‘good work’ in the last few days. It read,” The BMC takes enough care every year to keep Mumbai and Mumbaikars safe and avoid accidents. BMC employees are working day and night and the corporation has done a good job over the past 2-3 days.”

It further added that with the efforts of BMC, a situation like 26 July 2005 was avoided as more than 14000 million liters water was pumped out. ” An inquiry will happen but it is unfortunate to see the opposition parties politicising the issue,” it added. Shiv Sena also wrote that it has become a fashion to blame the Municipal body for everything that happens in the city.”

Heavy rains since Sunday had brought Mumbai on standstill as roads were waterlogged and train services were delayed. In Malad, a suburb of Mumbai around 22 people died after a wall collapsed, while one body was recovered from the debris.
