Kolkata| West Bengal BJP MP Saumitra Khan and his wife Sujata Mondal’s relationship has legally moved towards divorce. Sujata joined the Trinamool Congress on Monday. After this, Saumitra has sent her a legal notice for divorce.
Reacting to this, Sujata Mondal said that when politics enters your personal life, it becomes bad for relationships. “Saumitra is in the company of bad people of BJP. These people are trying to incite him against me. The party that ended the Triple Talaq is asking Saumitra to divorce me today,” she said.
When Fight for Elections Enters Home
Days after a slew of TMC MPs including Shubhendu Adhikari joined BJP, TMC was able to wrest Sujata on its side. Annoyed by Sujata joining TMC, Saumitra said on Monday that he will end all relations with Sujatha. He also said that he requests her to not use his surname.

Assembly elections are due in West Bengal next year. Here the BJP is putting all its strength to overthrow the Mamata government. Recently, many TMC MLAs, rebel leaders and an MP joined the BJP during Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit to Bengal. This was considered as a major advantage in the state for the party. Saumitra Was In TMC Earlier
Saumitra Khan is an MP from Vishnupur Lok Sabha seat. In 2014, he contested and won on TMC ticket. In 2019, however, he contested on BJP ticket. Currently, he is also the state president of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha.
Saumitra started politics in the Congress. Then he won the election of MLA. In 2013, he joined TMC and became an MP. After coming to BJP in 2019, he was accused of taking money from people for jobs. A case was registered against him. The Kolkata High Court had barred him from entering the constituency. Despite this, it was Sujata who took charge of the campaigning for her husband. In 2019, he won by over 78,000 votes.
Saumitra ends 43-year rule of communists in Vishnupur
The Communist Party had been winning continuously since 1971 in Vishnupur. Saumitra broke the tradition in 2014. He won the seat second consecutive time on BJP ticket in 2019.
