‘We The People Of India’ Writes To Amit Shah, Seeks Appointment To Discuss CAA-NRC

In the backdrop of HM Amit Shah expressing willingness to discuss the CAA-NRC with anyone, the organization has asked for an appointment for the same.

Delhi| ‘We The People Of India’, the organization mobilizing support mainly against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), National Register of Citizens (NRC) and National Population Register (NPR), has asked for an appointment from Union Home Minister Amit Shah after he expressed willingness to discuss the CAA-NRC with anyone who wants to. Shah had said that he’d meet anyone within three days who are willing to discuss the CAA-NRC with him.

Mr. Ashutosh Mishra, the Media personnel of ‘We The People Of India’, gave more details about their letter to Amit Shah in a telephonic conversation with HW News.

On the question of the specific date of their visit to Mr. Shah, he said that they are intending to have a meeting within a period of one week. Although they haven’t decided on any date in particular.

He also said that they haven’t received any response from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on their letter. They are waiting for the MHA to revert back.

More than a hundred organizations will be joining in the delegation of ‘We The People Of India’ if they are given an appointment from MHA. Organizations such as the All India Students Association, All India Progressive Women’s Association, Narmada Bachao Andolan will be joining the delegation who’ll visit Mr. Shah.

“Almost all the organizations from all over India who are opposing the CAA-NRC-NPR will be joining in,” Said Mishra.

Ganesh Devy, the Convenor Companions Group of We The People Of India will be the part of the delegation along with prominent activists like Yogendra Yadav, Medha Patkar, Rajmohan Gandhi, Teesta Setalvad and Anjali Bharadwaj.

Earlier, the women protestors of Shaheen Bagh had also sought an appointment with Mr. Shah. On the question of whether they will be joining the delegation of ‘We The People Of India’, Mr. Mishra said that they haven’t had any official conversation with the Shaheen Bagh protestors. But since the organizations from across the country are joining in, it will not be an issue if the Shaheen Bagh protestors accompany them as well.

It is to be seen whether the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) grants an appointment to the delegation of ‘We The People Of India.’
