Rajasthan: Congress Legislature Party Meeting Begins, Three Sachin Pilot Supporters Back

Three MLAs, who are Sachin Pilot supporters – Danish Abrar, Rohit Bohra, Chetan Dudi, have come back to Jaipur to attend the meeting called by CM.

 

New Delhi| As upset Rajasthan Congress leader Sachin Pilot has been camped in Delhi to meet the Gandhis, he opened rebellion against party and Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot. Late on Sunday, a message circulated on the Whatsapp group of MLAs- supporters of Sachin Pilot, according to reports. The message, apparently from Pilot himself claimed that the Ashok Gehlot government in Rajasthan is in minority. It also stated that 30 MLAs from Rajasthan are with Sachin Pilot.

However, after the news surfaced, the Congress in Rajasthan refuted the claim saying that the Congress government has the support of as many as 109 MLAs. AICC Rajasthan In-Charge Avinash Pande said that 109 MLAs have pledged support to CM Ashok Gehlot in written and more MLAs are expected to express support as well.

The party has also convened a legislature party meeting to keep the flock together. A whip has also been issued that asked all the Rajasthan Congress MLAs to be present at the meeting. Reportedly, in an act of open rebellion, Sachin Pilot refused to attend the meeting. Commenting on the development, Avinash Pande said that those who will not attend the meeting will face strict disciplinary action from the party.

Rebel Leaders At Gehlot Residence:

Meanwhile, the Congress Legislature Party meeting at CM Gehlot’s residence in Jaipur has begun. As per media reports, over 90 MLAs are present for the meeting. Even Three MLAs, who are Sachin Pilot supporters – Danish Abrar, Rohit Bohra, Chetan Dudi, have come back to Jaipur, ahead of the meeting. As per sources, they may also declare support to the Gehlot-led government.

Not Joining BJP- Sachin Pilot:

After his open rebellion against the party, speculations of him joining BJP started building. Some reports also said that he is in touch with the BJP and will meet BJP Chief JP Nadda before joining the party. On Sunday, BJP MP Jyotiraditya Scindia who jumped the ship earlier this year tweeted in support of Sachin Pilot. However, Pilot has refuted the rumours. Reportedly, he clarified that he is not joining BJP. Sources close to the development say that he may float a new party with the Rebel MLAs.

Income Tax Raids On Gehlot’s Close Confidantes:

Hours ahead of the Congress Legislature Party meeting at CM’s residence, the Income Tax department conducted raids at multiple locations in Rajasthan. The income Tax raided the office and residence of Congress leaders Dharmendra Singh Rathore and Rajiv Arora, deemed to be close aides of Gehlot. Slamming the move, Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala said, “After all, BJP’s advocates came on the field. The Income Tax Department started raids in Jaipur. When will ED arrive?”
