Mumbai| The Supreme Court will now take a decision on Monday on the Governor’s decision to remove President’s rule in Maharashtra in the early hours of Saturday and administer the oath to CM and Deputy CM to Devendra Fadnavis and NCP leader Ajit Pawar. Congress, NCP and ShivSena, engaged in efforts of Govt formation, have kept their MLAs in different hotels and mobiles have been taken from them for fear of defection.
ShivSena legislators have been accommodated in Mumbai’s Hotel The Lalit, NCP MLAs in Renaissance and Congress MLAs in JW Marriott Hotel. 8 Independent MLAs are staying at a resort in Goa. Most of them are those who have announced their support to the Shiv Sena.
Uddhav Thackeray went to meet MLAs at Hotel The Lalit. Uddhav has also said that he will also meet Congress MLAs. On the other hand, Sharad Pawar met party MLAs in Renaissance. A missing report was filed for NCP MLA Nitin Pawar. Nitin said – “My family should not be disturbed. I am with Sharad Pawar, Ajit Pawar and Chhagan Bhujbal.” NCP MLA Manikrao, who was reported missing since Saturday, also reached Renaissance on Sunday. According to the information, Manikrao accompanied Ajit to the Governor’s residence.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis reached the BJP office to meet the party MLAs. Also present is Union Minister Piyush Goyal.
All parties have issued a common number, through which families can interact with MLAs. On Saturday, NCP MLA Sangram Jagtap, who stayed in Rennaissance, went out for a walk but was brought back to the hotel by another party leader.
Supreme Court issues notice to Center, Government of Maharashtra
Amid political uproar in Maharashtra, the Supreme Court on Sunday heard the petition of the opposition parties. A bench of Justices NV Ramana, Justice Ashok Bhushan and Justice Sanjeev Khanna heard the case. The bench issued notices to the Center, Maharashtra government, Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar in the case. The court asked the Solicitor General to present the letter written by the Governor before the court at 10.30 am tomorrow so that the order can be issued on that basis. The court will give the appropriate order tomorrow.
